If you’ve been following the chatter around Diablo 4’s next season, you’ve probably heard people asking which class is going to rule the meta. After seeing how things played out in the recent PTR test, it’s not much of a mystery. Unless Blizzard pulls off some surprise changes before launch, all signs point to the Barbarian taking the crown. From what players saw in the new Tower challenge, Barbarians – especially the Hammer of the Ancients setup – just blew everything else out of the water. And if you’re looking to push the absolute limits of your character, you’re going to want to think hard about getting your hands on some Diablo 4 gold because this build doesn’t come cheap.

The numbers on the PTR told the whole story. The Tower leaderboard showed HOTA Barbs comfortably clearing into Tier 120 and above, something no other class could touch. The next closest builds, from other classes, were hitting around Tier 109. That’s not a small edge – it’s a huge gulf. When one build is clearing more than ten tiers higher, you don’t really need to argue about which is stronger. It’s rare to see such a gap in performance in a game like this, and it’s why so many players are eyeing the Barbarian as their go-to for the new season.

Now, it’s worth pointing out that you can’t just throw together any old Barbarian and expect these results. The HOTA setup leans heavily on a specific mix of gear – Mythic Uniques combined with certain standard Uniques – that click together perfectly to boost its damage to ridiculous levels. Without those pieces, you’ll still be strong, but you won’t hit that god-tier ceiling people are talking about. Even other Barb builds, like Lunging Strike-based setups, did well in the PTR but still sat far below HOTA on the Tower charts. So if you’re chasing the meta, this is one of those builds where farming the right gear is part of the journey.

That said, such dominance almost always attracts the nerf bat. It’s hard to imagine the devs letting one class leap so far ahead of the rest and stay there. Balance tweaks before the season drops could change things, so it’s smart to keep an eye on the official patch notes. If nothing major changes, HOTA Barb will likely be your ticket to tearing through high-tier content… at least until the dust settles. And if you’re planning to give it a shot, lining up your gear and resources – like grabbing some u4gm Diablo 4 gold – might be the smartest move you make before day one.
